I’m sorry but I can’t enough of the pickle tradition this year! Every time I think about it, it makes me chuckle and I want my family to be a part of the tradition…so we are starting this year! We have implemented a lot of traditions but I think this is one my kids WILL LOVE! My husband, on the other hand, is a bit skeptical and gives me the good ole eye roll every time I talk about it. Just wait, he will be the biggest supporter once he sees it played out.
What is the deal with hiding a pickle in the Christmas tree?
As Wikipedia puts it, “The Christmas pickle is a Christmas tradition for some people in the United States. A decoration in the shape of a pickle is hidden on a Christmas tree, with the finder receiving either a reward or good fortune for the following year.”
Now, having three competitive little girls (well…only two but one will be competitive someday for sure) in the house, we decided to hide three pickles in the tree while they are young (they will each get an extra special surprise when they find one of the three pickles). When they get a bit older, we will eliminate two of the pickles making it good fortune or a special gift for just one recipient. I simply CANNOT WAIT!!!
