Summer is in full swing in our household but we are still not enjoying all we could be due to the Coronavirus quarantine. The zoo, museum, parks, and pools all have restrictions (and most aren’t even open yet) which makes it impossible to enjoy as it is intended.
Here are some fun “at-home” summer activities to try out. Let me know in the comments below if you try them and how they turn out.
- The Water Blob
Check out this YouTube video on how to make your own water blob to enjoy this summer while pools aren’t exactly open for business. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdVRTfwl9G0
2. Tie-Dye Shirts
Not sure how to tie-dye, here is a short tutorial on how to do it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm6qYaz_H_U
3. Nature Walk
We have been traveling to local parks (even though the playgrounds are closed) and doing family nature hikes. Make a BINGO board, like the one below, and see who can get the first BINGO.
4. Sidewalk Chalk Mosaic Art Designs
The latest craze is with blue painters tape and sidewalk chalk. Grab a cheap tub of sidewalk chalk, stick the tape into a neat design and have at it.
5. Bake the Neighbors Treats
My kids LOVE to make treats for the neighbors, Grandma, Aunts and Uncles…and these recipes are sure to please ANYONE who is the recipient. https://www.kidspot.com.au/kitchen/recipes/collections/easy-dessert-recipes
Recap:
With these summer activities, you are sure to bring smiles to the little ones’ faces. Summer doesn’t have to be dull because of the quarantine, it can be adventurous and exciting. Each of these things can be done multiple times throughout the summer and never lose their “fun!” Enjoy!
