The winter blues have definitely hit our house and it has been long and grueling. With the flu having come and gone, it is only fitting to wish for warmer weather where we can escape the germ-infested house and get some much needed fresh air. Wishful thinking…until today.

Today was a warm 60-degree day. Having said that, we haven’t seen 60 degrees since October so the swarms of people seen outside were not that surprising. In fact, it was so nice to feel the breeze on your skin and have the ability to shed the winter jacket and swap it for a less bulky spring jacket. The sound of laughter filtered through the air as windows were plunged open and grills were revved up for an outside meal. For some, 60 degrees is frigid but for the rest of us who have been hunkered down inside for several months, this was a ticket to freedom. As a family, that is just what we did.

Starting the day off with a refresher from church and right into a day full of fun and excitement. For some, our day would seem dull, maybe even boring, but to us…it felt AMAZING to break free for a change. After church, our oldest had a soccer game and then we went home. Once home, it was clear the neighborhood kids were eagerly awaiting our return so they could all play Hide-and-Go-Seek, Freeze Tag, ride bikes, and soooo much more. The kids were outside for almost 3 hours and getting them to return back into the house was pretty near impossible…not to mention time changed this weekend and it was staying light outside MUCH longer than the previous day.

All in all, this was a magical day of what is to come ahead. After months of frigid, cloudy weather, we saw the silver lining and it was fantastic! So those of you going through the winter blues like our household, hold tight…the light at the end of the tunnel is getting bigger.
