“Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat…who put the penny in the old man’s hat?”

I don’t know about you, but my kids LOVE Christmas carols or any holiday song out there. In fact, starting the week of Thanksgiving, Christmas carols are playing on our Google Home or Pandora playlist pretty consistently. I LOVE, LoVe, LOOOOOOVE the holiday season and all the fun traditions that come with it. Many people take this time as a family to start traditions with their kiddos. It is so fun to sit down and dream of what your perfect family holiday season will/should look like. Will their be a real tree or artificial one? Will you have Elf on the Shelf or forego it? Do you participate in the Christmas pickle tradition or some other tree ornament tradition? The list goes on and on honestly.

Along with traditions come some of my FAVORITE things…Crafts and Activities!!! The Christmas season is a great opportunity to sit your kids down and explain why we celebrate Christmas (or the holiday you celebrate in the Christmas season). Why we do the things we do and what it means to your family as you celebrate and do those things.

Here is a list of fun activities you can do with your toddler today around the holiday season. These three activities are ones that I have done with each of my children and pull out to s]display year after year. As always, Thank you for taking a peak at my blog and I hope you are able to try some of these activities at home.

1. Bust out those stickers – it’s time to trim the Christmas Tree… Dot Stickers style!

Dot stickers might just be the most versatile activity supply around.

You can do math with them, trace with them, practice letters, and of course, decorate your Christmas tree with them!

I’m going to keep up my vigilance and find every dot sticker use possible to occupy the toddlers of the world. These Christmas Dot Sticker Trees did NOT disappoint!

Curious why I love dot stickers so much?

Not only are they versatile but they’re ageless / age-friendly – even our youngest learners (15-18 months) can peel dot stickers and use them to decorate.

My little learning twist…

To give this activity just a little something extra, I decorated the tree with Do-A-Dot markers.

I made 12 dots for each color…WHY? Because that’s the amount of dots in 2 sticker sheets!

Making this a matching activity gave it just that little bit of something extra to make it oh so much fun my 3 year old.

2. Ornament Tracing…YES…SOOO FUN!!!

Get out those stickers, buttons, shredded paper, and craft supplies to have your toddler/preschooler glue items along the line…whether it be zig zag, horizontal, vertical, polka dot, or bullseye to create a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork you can display each year.

3. Salt Dough Ornaments

These precious ornaments come out year after year and I love them so much! I have included the recipe along with the idea behind the ornament. Honestly, you could use your child’s foot to make Rudolph or a snowman or stick with the Santa image I have provided.

In the comments below, I would love to hear about some of your favorite family traditions and what your holiday season looks like in your home. Have a magical holiday season.
